"When Emma Linde was undergoing treatment for cancer she, and her fellow patients, were offred makeup courses and wig assessments. An appointment with a psychologist would take months although they did not know whether they would survive or not. Emma created this self-portrait. A face was cut out of pages from fashion magazines and her eyes peer out of 18 smiling model faces. Stipes and squares together form a portrait with a hairless head and big, wondering eyes. It is an image of identity and curiosity as to the future.
Own technique using 18 fashion magazines torn into stripes and then cut into different lengths to create the image. Chance causes the various pictures meeting in a pattern of squares made up of photos, advertising and text. Mounted on MDF board."
